A few weeks ago I had cataract surgery and a new lens installed. I can finally see again out of my right eye and drive at night. I'm not going to say the surgery was a walk in the park as it seemed to take me a while longer to heal than others I've spoke to.

 

Just had both eyes done with absolutely no problems @ all. They were done 3 weeks apart.

 

Luckily I only needed one eye.

 

I had a lense put into my right eye as well following a buckle surgery for a detached retina. I was awake for the cataract surgery, it went well for me as well. The detached retina was another story, very painful/sensitive, followed by injections in my eyeball. It was straight out of Clockwork Orange minus the symphonic music. Glad to hear that your quality of life has improved.

 

I had both eyes done a year apart and each time no problem at all.

 

I was awake for mine too, after it was over it felt as if they had pulled my eyelid up and over my head

 

It's always nice to hear that eye surgeries are successful and you can return to normal stereo vision. I'm terrified of having something like that done, even though the risks are low. Once I can't see anymore, different story.

I'm still laughing at the picture of Eric wandering around with his eyelid pulled over the top of his head.

 

I had both of mine done last year a month apart. No issues whatsoever. I can now see to read the newspaper and have gone to a smaller print on the computer. Wish I had had it done sooner.

 

I still have to use readers, but now at 1.25.

 

I had carakonis (SP) coning if the right eye and had a transplant. Thank you who ever you were that donated that organ. Saved my sight as I was blind in my left eye already, bad nerve. Luckily I was put out when it all happened I was stressed enough and doubtful if I could have kept from squirming at the wrong time.

It's amazing what doctors can do these days with the eyes. It's good to see good even if it is only one eye.... Tedd

 

I'm stoked to be able to see well again. One eye just did not cut it.

 

I've been seeing with only one eye sense birth and didn't notice there was much of a difference till the right eye went south. Big difference between one and none.... Tedd

 

I wouldn't doubt any type of eye surgery not being painful along with some discomfort after. I can't imagine having to have eye surgery myself.
Heck I get a piece of metal or a metal sliver in the eye and I'm freakin' out until I flush it out before having to go to the hospital to have my eye froze and dremeled out haha. ground out.

Glad to hear it worked out for you Eric. I'm like a two year old when I have to put eye drops in. Can't imagine having a procedure done on my eye while awake.

 

Your awake but mostly in a fog. The eye is completely immobile and you can't feel a thing.

 

Glad all went well Eric and you can now drive at night. My vision is not well and I now need anti-glare coating on my glasses for night driving.

My ophthalmologist said the lighting in new cars, and especially the unnecessary LED emergency lights now used almost exclusively in law enforcement and first responder vehicles, are especially harmful and blinding.

Hopefully the advances made by researchers, surgeons, and doctors continue so that they can help everyone with their vision and eyes.

 

Yep, dodged quite a few bullets in my life, some I should have zigged rather than zagged. Near misses are rough on a persons body also. If it wasn't for modern medicine I would have died several times plus I would have been blind and crippled before the final event. Big deal as it is happening, not so much as time goes by. As everyone does we just live one day at a time and enjoy all we can. Nobody gets out of this world alive anyway.... Tedd

Its the pits getting old. But replacing/repairing stuff is something we all have to deal with. I'm just glad the technology is there to help us with these things. I hope you heal up well Eric!

Glad to hear that you recovered. Now you can get your Olds to the rest of the evening cruise-ins this summer.

 

I had Lasik in both eyes in 1999 but now have a cataract in both eyes and right eye is bad and I must take a eye test in Sept. for my driver lic. before my 70th Birthday. And I have been doing shots in both eyes for months so I know what you went thru on your eyes. My good friend lost his vision on one eye from eye surgery he had. Get well

Years ago when i was a surgical technician i got to help in eye surgery alot. Cataract removal and lens implants, lens replacement. detached retnas. It was very cool, interesting and fun work.
I thought my late dog "Beaner" had cataracts, i was going to get lenses for her but the doc said it was not catatacts so she wasnt a candidate. I would have done anything for that dog.
Eric glad to hear the surgery went well for you, Gerald good luck with your decisions, if it were me i would get the cataracts removed and get lens implants.
