Anybody sick of rain?

Almost 2 months of rain! We have had only 1 stretch of 2.5 days with out! My job is directly related to farming and it's June 1st with roughly 10% crops in the ground here in mid-Michigan.
June 10th is the line in the sand, either plant or wait till next year! With the sad state of commodity prices for the last 4 years, some guys won't be farming next year.

I am sure that most anyone east of the rockies is in the same boat (pardon the pun)

Pat

Flooding is a big problem in my region, but not locally. All the lakes and rivers are full or over. My local area has been spared luckily. We've missed the "big" ones. Corn that I've seen is about 10" tall and many farmers are getting their first hay cut in, but not all of them. It's a lot worse in the KC area.

We get a day of rain and a day of sun. Then suddenly we get a day of rain and a day of sun. Then the next day it's rain then a day of sun. Seems to be some kind of pattern here!! The leafy crops are jumping out of the ground fast, soon to be harvested. A strawberry farm 1/2 hour away can't get in more plants because it is too wet for them.

Last year we got 72 inches of rain, when we normally get about 38-40. Still getting rain here. Don't worry in a little while you will griping about not enough rain. It is either to wet or to dry.

The rice farmers in the valley are in a time jam. Many fields haven't been tilled and probably won't. Some will fall back on crop insurance and farm the Government this year.

In my case we raise almonds and it was cold and rained all through the pollination period (bees wont work in the wet or cold). Poor bud set and a short crop. Raining as I type but went to town with the top down today in a t shirt. You never know, it's just farming... Tedd

Mixed feelings. Just planed a few new shrubs and haven't watered the grass, but can't seem to get out to often. Been raining almost every other day hear on the North East coast.

It has been awful here in KS. Gave up on planting anymore corn and switched to beans. Killing weeds before the next rain.

North East Ohio has been terrible and especially on weekends. Hoping this weekend clears for BOP show sponsored by the Buick group. Looking forward to it and the the ride to Lansing for Homecoming. Up and back in the day. Cutlass stays home.
