Alberta bound
Alberta bound
Well boys and gals, Alberta bound on Saturday. Be out in oil country for 4 months then breakup. Off for 6 weeks and back till Christmas. Maybe see a few CO members. Cheers
Oh yes, can't leave my friends stranded.
I may be going to the bush, but still civilization. Can't stop my Olds addiction, I would go through withdrawals. Lol Hopefully find a diamond in the rough.Going to work in Bonneville to Cold Lake. I will be living in St Paul.

Welcome to AB Kyle. You actually going to live in Bonneville or stay in camp? Rentals are through the roof out there right now. Cold Lake can't keep up with the construction demands. Almost as bad as Ft.McMurray....
Yup, that's about what I thought on the pricing. The travel time will more than offset staying with your cousin and helping him out a bit. That kind of rent is only making the landlords rich. From what I hear most peeps out there need to have dual income and dual jobs to stay afloat.
advice
Take it from someone who has been in the oil patch for 20 years. No matter what anyone tells you about how much work you will have work do NOT spend the money before you have it. "Break up" is NOT 4 months away. For some it will start the last week in February & for most it is here by mid March. Only a lucky few will have work in April & May while the road bans are on. For many break up can last well into June & for some there will be no work until July. Sit on your wallet until you are back working this summer.
Good luck with you ventures. Let's revisit this post on July 1st and see how it played out.

Was on the pipeline last fall for 6 weeks and loved it. This new line is 2 months behind already, so I don't think we will be done before April, but guess we will see. Hope to see some CO Albertans. I will keep you posted and with some photos ad well.

They know what oil money is worth so they will milk the train as long as they can. Rather help out a family member before them

free advise
Wether the work is done or not County road bans bring a stop to Rig activity. Pipeline work might be different but the advice NOT to spend the money before it is in your hands still applies. I stopped counting the number of times I have seen guys spend their oil patch money on toys only to lose it all when the work dries up.
