1948 Olds 98 Battery

What size battery does the '48 Olds take? Even the battery shops don't have any information beyond a few years.

The '48 Olds used a group 2E battery . An example ;
Delco 2E Classic Car Scrip Battery (batterycentralmall.com)
If you don't want to pay high prices for a " script " battery . Look in farm supply stores .
Two cylinder John Deere tractors also used this size battery .

Thank You Charlie. Boy the price of batteries, like everything else, sure has gone up hasn't it.

" Script " batteries are expensive . I just used that page to show you what to look for .
Implement stores , or even O'Reillys / NAPA will have them much cheaper .

I have to admit 2E prices shocked me when I googled them. If the batteries had a decent lifespan or warranty the price wouldn't be quite so hard to swallow.

Here is what tractor supply has. Pretty reasonable in price, $139.99 and dimensionally close.
Traveller Heavy-Duty Battery, 3EH at Tractor Supply Co.

Same battery at OReilly
