Anyone remember which one goes where on the ASM? I cannot recall. They seem basically the same except for notches. thx

 

There is probably a letter stamped on each one....A, B, C and D. They go in that order.

 

I see no ABC's... or even 123's.

 

The letters should be on the buckets....are those repro's?

I seem them stamped on one of the squared off triangular tabs where the headlight adjusting screws go through. Letters are on the forward facing surface of these tabs....look at the largest tabs...I checked some again and that's the tab I see them on.

I checked a few sets I have here and they all have the letters stamped in them. Maybe they stopped doing that after a certain year.

 

I will check again, but did not see anything. They are my originals and were powdercoated... which likes to 'fill in' those types of things.

 

ah ah. You are right. I see them now. Hard to see w/o a bright light. B & D are pretty much filled right in with powdercoating and can just barely make them out. Thanks.

I am assuming 'A' starts on the far left (pass. side) looking head on at the core support.

 

This is 'B'.

 

It's the other way around....on a '72 Buick Abody....D is on outboard Passenger side, C inside P side, B inside D side, A outside D side.

Try mocking that up or put them on the floor in that order and place the alum headlight bezels over them to see if the small clearance cutouts in the alum bezels line up with the adjuster screw areas.

Interesting. So the buckets with the two notches close to each other (left bucket pictured above in 1st post) actually sit side by side (on the drivers side). I assumed they were scattered... one on each assembly. I should have paid closer attention when I took everything apart.

 

Holy mogul!! That's a light stamping. Powder coating can be fairly thick as well.

 

Oldzy, as you noticed the notches are different. Get out the sealed beams and test fit them. The outer high/low beam will not fit the bucket for the inner high beam and vice-versa.


The left-right difference is which side of the bucket the horizontal adjusting screw is on. Those screws should be closest to the side of the car, not the center.
