Question: 72 Supreme Convertible cowl channel repair

Embarking upon the dreaded windshield cowl repair, and a minor question:
What is the purpose of this funny little clip? One on each side.
Thanks in advance, esteemed Olds folks ✌️
What is this clip for? One on each side.

Those clips capture the outboard edge of the wide stainless trim at the base of the windshield. The use of a clip like this instead of a screw through a hole allows the stainless to be removed for a windshield replacement without having to pull the fenders off to access screws.

Make a note to yourself to reinstall these clips before you reinstall the front fenders. It's nearly impossible to install them with the fenders installed.
