Hi All,
I have a rattle/jingle coming form my passenger side front tire area.
I think I know where it is coming from, but can I fix this and how critical is it?
It is a pin with nuts and washers on both ends (I think both ends) in between the brakes and the engine.
Look at my pic and see if you can tell what I'm trying to say.
It moves up and down very loosely like it should have some rubber grommets in between the nuts.

Noo...look closer. The bushings are missing...at least the top one is. The second from the top looks all torn up to me.

 

+1 - replacement polyurethane sway bar link bushings.

The fact that the sway bar link in the photo has what appears to be one black rubber and one red polyurethane bushing tells me that the previous owner did some funny things. Get two new complete end link kits and replace them both.

You want to ask for 2ea sway bar end link kits, or 1ea if they come with both sides.

Not worth arguing about, but I see nothing wrong with his link bolt, nut, spacer, or washers.



I'd save a few bucks for something else, and just get eight replacement polyurethane sway bar link bushings.

You see nothing wrong because your x-ray vision isn't working. Look again and you'll see where the metal-to-metal contact between the bolt and the sway bar has worn the bolt down.

Seriously, the entire end link kit for both sides is about six bucks at RockAuto. This isn't worth the time to think about it. Besides, I always snap at least one of the bolts due to rust (we don't have a picture of the other side).
