Centre Link / Drag Link... help!

hi again, hope you're doing well...

i'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck sourcing a Centre Link (some call it a Drag link) for a 66/67 Cutlass?

i have a Moog Part number ds-749, but it only covers 68+ model years..

from what my research tells me, Moog, Spicer & Metal tech make one- but i cant seem to track down the part numbers for a 66/67 Cutlass, no AC, 330ci engine

HELP!!

(pssst...Joe!)

Have you looked at RockAuto? They might carry this part. If not, I'm not sure where you could get it since it is a non-wear item.

To add to the problem you need to measure the size of the bar. I think one is 13/16 and one is 7/8. Your 67 may not have the same issue but my 66 did. The stud size to the pitman arm is different. I found out the hard way and ended up having to replace my pitman arm to get it to work. I looked all over but I think I got mine off EBAY from this guy.

thanks! and actuaslly since my car is technically a 66 i will probably run into the same problem you did..

i have a MOOG DS749 on order and will pick it up this weekend. ill measure my bar tonight so i can be sure to get the correct size.

oh, and anyone telling you this is a non wear item is incorrect.
there are pivots at either end of the bar that (even when fully greased up) can exhibit play due to wear.

you are correct on the link being a wear item but the pitman arm is a non wear item.

Wink

FYI...updates..

the stock centre link is a 13/16" thickness. the DS749 MOOG part is thicker, so i didnt buy it.

ill be instead buying the idler/pitman/centrelink off ebay that richard suggests

onwards & upwards~!

1965 "should" be 13/16" and 66-7 "should" be 7/8". you can get both at www.kanter.com

well, it seems the bar length overall is same, so the only benefit to going upsized to 7/8" is a heavier mass, and a stiffer link between the tie rods. seeing as i'm going the larger wheel / tire route; i think upsizing to the 7/8" link with the idler & pitman is a wise choice..

this guys sellin them as a package deal..!

I ordered one earlier this this year I can't remember right off the bat from who and I am at work right now but I will let you know from where when I get home later tonight or tomorrow evening. I believe it cost me around $60.00.
