Battery Tray

Is the 71 cutlass battery tray metal or plastic. I thought they where metal, but came across one for sale, says he took it off a 71 and it is plastic. Anyone know for sure.

You can buy a new battery tray from Fusicks. At least you can for the full-sized cars. If Fusicks doesn't carry one for the Cutlass you might try Year One.

Yeah, I have seen them avaliable from a couple sources, just came across this one on Detroit Craigslist along with some other parts the owner says he took off a 71. My son is going up there friday, so thought I'd just have him pick it up. but its apparently not a correct one, as he says it is plastic.

Depending on what engine you have, there are two different sized battery trays for the '71 Cutlass. If yours has a 455 the tray should measure 7" x 12".
(the tray for the 350 is smaller) Both are steel and can be ordered from Fusick.
