In shop at school we are trying to take off the body so I can bring hte frame home and clean it up. Once problem is that I've never done this before and I am not entirely sure where all the bolts are for the body! So where are they all? I found the 2 in the front, the one in the middle of the body and 2 that are behind the rear axle area. We tried to at least break the body loose but it seems that there is still one or two on! Someone help me out!

I can see if I can find my chassis service manual. You should have one if your doing a frame off

 

Alright, Could you take a picture if there is one about where the bolts that attach the body to the frame are?

Here are those pics, I was looking at it wrong (speed kills) Let me know if you'd like it faxed. Oh its the assembly manual.

 

For each side there are the two in the front, the one under the door, two rubber isolators (under quarter window and on rear kick up), one behind the tire, and one at the very rear crossmember.

Body sits on the rubber isolators, no bolts. Make sure parking brake cable is removed from the front footwell, where it comes up thru floor.

Ok thanks guys! I double checked the emergency cable that is under the car and saw that it was caught in a few places! We broke the body loose from the chassis! Woo, I have to wait for this Saturday for Auto Club at school. Don't worry, pictures to come.

Thank you all for the help and TK-65 Jesus you've done a great job on your car! Your site and what you did to your car actually made me want to do it to mine, and thats exactly what I've done. So the body will stay at the Auto Shop at school and the frame will come home. I'll be able to work on my car whenever I want, and not even have to pay for any of the supplies at school! Once again thank you all for the help and I'm sure I'll be back for more Its rough. I know.

 

Ok I'm back once again for some advice, some really good advice.

The old man I bought this car from replaced the floorboards with a uhh, kinda mix of fiberglass [The Black Stuff], rivets, and whatever metal was there. Keep in mind I knew nothing about this when I bought the car...

Should I just cut all this fiberglass crap outta the car and do all new floors or what?
Also everyone keep in mind, this is gonna be a drag car so originality I really couldn't care less about. Thanks!

 

I'd be thinking new "weld in pans" original yes but stronger than fiberglass and thats probably important for a drag car I would think.

 

What I mean by I don't care about original is that I don't care if its original sheetmetal or not, I mean I care about all the original interior and etc... But remember, I am doing this on a budget and if it comes down to making my own floor pans... Has anyone done this before? If so any advice on how to take this on?

 

Welds are always better than rivets, and sheet metal is sheet metal. As long as you use the right gauge steel and it has the reinforcement stampings you're good to go.

I have 67 cougar rear floor pans in my delta lol.

 

Did you just buy this buggy? I saw it listed on another site and they were parting it out?
