1967 442 conv Frame replacement question

Need to replace my 67 conv 1330 Boxed Frame..Just Picked up a Boxed Buick 1308 Frame and was wondering where I could get specs on differences of both...

Any Help would be appreciated

Thanks

Most of the time the difference is in the front frame horns. The Olds used cross flow radiators and other GM lines used down flow narrower radiators. There fore the frame horns are different widths. If the interchange book shows a different number, probably won't work.

May have clearance issues where the front bumper mounts to the bumper brackets that attach to the frame horns-the bumper brackets are a bit adjustable to the frame horns and may provide some love. However, doesn't the core support make the difference about the radiator fitment, would the Buick 1308 be friendly to the 67 Olds. I'm betting it would. Just some thoughts. Have fun and be safe....with the Olds.

Just as I said. I looked in my Hollander interchange and the Olds is by itself, doesn't interchange with anything. The Buick 1308 interchanges with the Pontiacs and they use down flow radiators which are narrower than cross flow radiators. That's why the frame horns are wider on the Olds, the radiators sits between the horns.Just trying to help and save the guy some time by pointing out the differences.

I looked at my hollander as well and gathered the same result..Maybe I can use my existing horn to fix that issue. I with there were somewhere to get the measurements so that I could figure out if that area will be my only problem area..

Thanks for you help..

You can use a 66 Olds A-Body Conv. frame and the only difference is you have to use the 66 rear springs. The upper spring mount is different, that's all.

Also the 67 frame has additional brackets welded so the crossmember can be farther back for the turbo 400 trans. You could use a 66 or 67 hardtop frame and weld the boxing pieces to it after grinding the welds and removing them from the old frame. I have done that before; just be careful that they end up the correct distance apart so that the crossmember fits.

Where are you? I could show you the differences if you are near Vegas because I have several different frames. I don't think you would want to try to change the horns from a Buick frame to work on the Olds.
