Welcome to Classic Olds AL, what part of the country are you in and what are you wanting to spend on a 76 0r 77.
What condition driver/restored/restoration piece would help others here, engine size, interior would also help.
All the best with your search.
Cheers

Hey guys. Looking for a nice driver that may only need a few things done to it. Would like it painted already. Buckets and console are a plus. Just no project cars. Been there done that. I am in the cleveland ohio area. My budget would go up to 9000. Thanks again guys.

Al,
You should be able to find a nice 76/77 for the price you advertised. Hopefully someone here will be able to help you out.
If you visit the 73-77 Olds forums many guys post internet finds over ther. Although it is difficult to join that site, you should be able to pull up the listings posted.
Oldscutlass ^^^ put up a sticky here for us 73-77 guys I can't add the link here im not that good with computer stuff, you may find the link if you search or someone may post it up here to have a looksie and post something ther .
Again all the best with your search.

This 77 442 sold less than a month ago. It will give you an idea what you can get for your money. Asking was $6500.

Its should be in very good condition, lower mileage and should be close to rust free. Everything should work as it should. The paint may have some fading if original but other than that it should be mechanically sound.
I wouldn't expect a rebuilt engine with performance mods other than a decent set of duals but you should have no issues finding a near mint driver for 9k.
I really hope it works out for you since your now part of the best Oldsmobile Forums going.

Maybe some of you guys can comment on the 76 and 77 Cutlass' on eBay right now. Are they priced right? Seems high to me. Also there seems to be very little reproduction parts out there for 73-77 models. Am I right? Again thanks for all your help. Any additional websites for parts or cars for sale would be greatly appreciated. Al

Yes parts are hard to find, as Inline mentioned, interior plastics are scarce in good condition. However at times here guys have parts, Paladin ( Brett) is often a good source for parts here for our cars.
He is always helping most of us 73-77 guys with parts. Some parts are available through Fusick, The parts place, Original Parts group and Summit Racing for mild performance stuff.
The 73-77 cars are really starting to take off in price at the moment. I would try to pick one up soon, I think they will continue to rise now that most guys from the era are getting older and wanting one of these cars that they owned in high school and were some of our first cars we owned.
Keep on the lookout and don't settle for something that needs interior stuff or rear bumper plates.
Others will chime in here and let you know how to source parts if you happen to stumble upon a nice 76 or 77 needing only a few parts.
Cheers

Happy New Year guys. I am looking at a 77 soon. It is a bench seat car (60-40) and wanted to know if it would be difficult to convert to bucket seats? It currently has the pillow top seats. Not a huge fan of these, but would I be doing more damage to the cars value if I did this? The seat upholstery is in mint condition as it stands right now. Just want a bucket seat console car that's all. Thanks for any input.

You could add buckets, console , shifter and steering column without too much hassle. You could find all the parts needed here. Just look in the parts sale adds. I think everything you would be looking for has been posted in the past month actually.
Mine was swapped out, I had a body shop do it while it was getting painted years ago. I forget the cost , but it was up there haha.
I would look for a true bucket/console car if that's what you really want, less hassle and $$$ in the long run unless you want to tackle the swap yourself , they are out ther just have to be patient and jump on it when you find one.
I also heard the 77 and up Olds 350 engine blocks aren't as good as the 76 and older others may chime in more about that.

Not sure if the car I am looking at has been posted up on the site or not, but it has the 403 block in it. Numbers matching car. That's why I asked if modifying it would devalue it or not? I could live with the bench and pillow top seats. They are mint. Trying to find that "perfect for me" car will drive me crazy.

If the interior is in mint shape I would leave it, Chances of finding buckets, console, speedo, steering column in the same colors as the rest of the interior would likely be a long shot.
I had to dye/ paint my parts black, since the seats were white, console and column were brown.
I'm not 100% sure but I think I recall them mig welding in some plates, drilling tapping new holes for the buckets.
I replaced the carpet a couple summers ago and still can't remember seeing the plates, PFFFFT, this getting older sucks haha, my memory is failing badly, including my eye sight damit.
Anyway, its your call on the swap, maybe Texxas or someone else will chime in on the bench seat holes to confirm bolt in buckets.
I'd sell you my 76 for 9k but my wife would likely kill me haha, its her lite blue baby. Plus I'd get Oldsmobile withdrawal very quick.
I hope this helps a bit.
Cheers

Big blocks generally run more money, everything else being equal. Remember, 76 is the last year for factory 455, 403 for 77. Do yourself a favor and get a car with a very good interior, it will save you some grief. I have bench seats in mine and I kinda like them. Brings me back. Check the exhaust. If they got rid of the cats, you should check the laws in your state. Because it won't be too cheap to bring it back to emission legal. There are some special editions also. I paid $4000.00 for my Y76 about 12 years ago and it's probably worth the same now. But all the other things apply as with other cars since you don't seem like a beginner. I would take $9000 for mine, ha ha.

Hi Al, wondering if you're still looking for a 77? I have a 77 442, I have the original 403, and now it's powered by a 68 455. I have tons of parts to go with it. It runs , drives great, needs a new paint job. I've had it 31 years !! I drive to it our drag strip that's 90 miles away , swap the tires and run low 100s on it. It's a fun car. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks.
