WTB '66 Jetstar 88 2 Dr Hardtop

Only looking for the '66 JS88 at this point. With 8000 +/- built it is going to be hard to find. Interested in building a street rod / resto mod. I'm in NC if anyone runs up on something reasonable.

Just curious why not say a Dynamic or Delta 88? You would be getting the BB engine, heavier duty suspension and rear, a turbo 400 trans but more difficult to find custom wheels for 5 inch wheel bolt pattern. I believe these cars would be priced equally with a Jetstar and except for side trim share the same body parts.

Those are true statements; however I am looking for the rarity of the JS88. I have a Ls6 from a 2001 Z06 and a 700R4 I'd like to mate with it for starters. There will definitely be some modification to the undercarriage and I want to slam it on the ground at shows (so lay down some $$ for air bag suspension). In the end, I want a 60s sled that me and the wife can jump in and run coast to coast.

I'm still keeping my 64 D88.

Jetstar 88

There was a 1966 JS 88 in the Seattle Craigslist last week and I swear it was like new condition. Not sure if it's still there and I think he was asking $16k. Good luck on your search. Ron Green 1965 Jetstar convertible owner in Tacoma.

Ran up on an oddball on CL near Knoxville, TN. Guy says he has a '66 JS88 2dr with 48k original miles but sporting a 425/4 bbl. I was certain the JS88s had the 330/2bbl. He is asking $12K.

I've asked for the body plate info and engine code

Correct. The Jetstar 88 (but not the Jetstar I) never came with anything but the 330 with no other option over the course of its three years of existence. If this car has a 425, then it is not the original engine, and the mileage he's saying the car has means nothing.

This is from the '66 Olds Dealer Specs Book. There were three versions of the 330 available in the J-88 with high or low-compression engines and 2 or 4-bbl carbs.

There is nothing on the engine or car that states engine size in 66. I bet the guy just thinks the car has a 425. No way is the 425 original to the car. Ask for engine code or head letter or number or even air cleaner pie plate. This will help id the engine.

couldn't get anything from him, so I let it go. Probably best or at least that is what I am telling myself.

Onto the search for the 59/60 D88, S88 or 98 scenic coupe!
