Smile Wanted - 55 Oldsmobile

Looking for a 55 Oldsmobile. Convertible would be great (yes, I know, I have a snowballs chance in hell on that), but hardtop is fine. I can do most all work myself, but Im not looking for a huge project. Has to be under 10 grand.

Here's a 53 convertible with a clean title. Definitely a project though.

I Don't intend to be discouraging, but a nice '55 Hardtop is higher than that.
I sold my '55 4dr. hardtop a year ago for $20,500 and it was not listed but 1 week.
The 2dr. Hardtop '55 that is listed in the for sale section on this site is just an "88" ,not a Super 88 and is a straight shift, and he wants $25,000 ! Wish you luck, Larry

I guess I missed the $10,000. If the 56 mentioned above doesn't have a lot of rust it is a good buy. Your couldn't even get a project convertible for under $10,000. If you find a decent 55 for under $10,000 it is just about guaranteed it will have 4 doors and actually there is nothing wrong with that. A nice old car is not cheap.

If you could resurrect that 53 from the dead you would be in it 60 G's or more not counting labor. The wheat in the floor boards needs harvesting..... Tedd

Thanks Larry (Rocketowner). Thanks for the advice. Truth hurts - getting in around 10 grand is probably not realistic.

There is one at Gateway for $13k. What do you think of this:

That's a great price, even for a four-door, if even part of what the advertisement says about the car is correct. You couldn't build much for that money.

Since last pictures, I put on new 17" Torq Thrust wheels and P225/60R17 tires. Will update pictures in a week or so.

If you will not be in a rush, you might possibly find a 4 Door sedan or possibly a 2 door sedan that needs some work (maybe that you could do) for around $10,000!
I am all for you ,but know that the values are above your wishes. Heck ,I am in a completely different , and I will watch out for you in this area. You are welcome ,for my advice, and always willing to try to help. Oh by the way, my car that I sold was the most original '55 automobile that I ever looked at and I was in the car business for over 40 Years.
So it was higher than most. Good luck, Larry

Here is a nice 54 4-door that is selling without reserve. This car might be a bargain. If I had a place to put it, I would be in on the bidding.

If you are interested in a 4door sedan, there's a '55 that needs some finishing up on
Nashville Craigslist for $12,000 ,and a 1956 "88 Sedan " for $8400. Take a look ,Larry
Spotted a '56 4dr Sedan on Atlanta Craigslist (Marietta Ga. ) for $10000! Larry

All of the Oldsmobiles in the 50s are so classy. I think they got more awesome as the decade progressed but I would be proud to own any of them.

Just found this 57 98 convertible. If I were to buy this or the 53, I would go with the 53. It has a title:

My brother is selling his 56 98 HT. The guy buying it, has a 55 Convert, that he needs to sell, before he can complete the deal. I know nothing about it, but he lives in the Sacramento Ca area, so probably on Craigs list there? I can get more info, if you are interested.

I've considered selling mine several times. Its a 2-dr HT with 4bbl (was 2bbl) with Power brakes and Power steering. Just about ready for paint. Virtually all the chrome is redone, all stainless is all sourced and with the car. body is repaired of what little rust there was and I'll try and post a picture. I've got 15k into it so far. Offer?

The 53 is still available near Atlanta, GA. He says it has a good title... I wonder if it's the title for the 53 or a title for an 85 98 since that's the frame that's sitting under it. Then again, now he says it's for "parts only." It will probably rust into the Earth until both the owner and the car are long gone.

Or a title for a 1951 98 since that is what the body looks like in the poor images.
