Need a cheap beater in Baltimore!!
I have been looking around for awhile, haven't really found anything. I am looking for something that is pretty efficiant and reliable, but still have some cool factor. I have had my eye out for an 80's Olds, Buick or Monte Carlo. But open to anything else that you may have laying around! Even an old truck or something like that. I have a bead on a new job that is a bit further than I am comfortable driving my 1972 455 everyday (my current daily driver) and i can't bring myself to get a newer ricer or something that I will have to finance for $500 bucks a month. Anybody???
Well I am happy to report that my G-Body search is over! I am now the proud owner of a true ex-granny grocery getter 1987 Monte Carlo LS. Yeah its not an Olds....but....hey pretty close! I brought it home today, got it at a great price because the young guy who bought it from the original owner said his dad is tired of him having old cars everywhere, so by the end of the weekend he had to get rid of either this Monte, or a 1967 Lemans he was working on, he opted for the Lemans, and I was there to swoop in and reap the reward of an all original car, with alittle less then 54,000 miles on the original engine. 4,000 of those miles where put on in the last 10 months by the guy I got it from. With the exception of an aftermarket sound system, and I think the wheels, it is all original. Which is good and bad, because it is pretty worn in some spots, and is sprayed all over with dark grey Rustoleum ( at least it matches my Cutlass now!) But it is mechanically very sound, runs drives and stops like a dream. Now I actually have another car I can jump into and run up to the autoparts store when I have the Cutlass all torn apart in the driveway. Hooray! Now I just have to find out what the hell an "EFI" is.....
