the "Just Arrived" 98
the "Just Arrived" 98
This guy has had this 98 on Ebay for what seems forever... Its a 1976 Regency 2-door... It never seems to get "reserve", and after a few days or a week, it reappears again as "just arrived"... The sellers always seems to have expensive "reserved" cars, and takes pics in front of this huge house in Florida... There are 2 or 3 different ebay sellers who take pics at the same house, and they all have "pristine" cars, that are "rare" survivors...

So I called up this guy and asked about this 76 as if I were seriously interested..
I get the story that it's "mint", and it would take $12.5k to buy it and ship it to me...
I was even given the name of a "finance company" would take care of all the details for me, etc...

But strangely, he also has a 1977 on his ebay list that the pic was taken in 2006 of a 1977 98 regency..

That green '77 just caught my eye since it was like my old '77 Olds I bought when I graduated from college... I didn't exactly care for the color, but a kid graduating from college on a budget that needed transportation was glad to find anything....
Yeah, they're SnakeOil SALESMEN to be sure! I'd GO LOOK carefully at all these "just arrived CREAM PUFFS" they advertised with abandonment...what a turnoff from the Hobby these guys can be. (Guess you have to just be "entertained" by their anctics!
) But Buyer BEWARE for sure!!

It sold! It looked beautiful but hopefully whoever bought it, checked it out first. My story:
I was looking at a 67 Bel Air 2dr post car with a 396 4 spd about 3 years ago. It was pictured in front of a beautiful home and I was told it was absolutely mint, one repaint, solid no rust car. I decided not to buy it sight unseen and I got a round trip ticket for $200 on Southwest Airlines. (Cheaper than paying someone to look at it) And was I glad I did. The rear quarters were fiberglassed in the fenderwheels to the point where the lip was gone. Fenders were full of bondo. Car barely started, puked antifreeze all over the place and the trans was in need of a rebuild. I was pissed but glad I did not buy it for 12k and pay to ship it as well.
I would encourage anyone to get someone to check it out before buying it sight unseen!

Seems it finally found a home (or I hope it did)... But I hear ya on the "sight unseen" cars... I had a 1978 Lincoln Continental with the Town Car option - given to me by my late Aunt after my uncle passed away in 1998. The car appeared "mint" (body no rust, interior like new)... The vinyl top was flawless... I changed the oil which had been in that car for almost 30 years, put a new set of tires on it, and added new hoses to the car... Had to buy a new gas tank, as mine was rusted out from sitting all those years not being started..
She ran like a top, but the longer she ran, the more issues cropped up - such as oil leaks from old seals, water pump failure, etc etc... It was an endless money pit because that car was parked for so many years in a building with no heat or AC... I ended up selling that old Lincoln to a friend for little of nothing... I needed it out of my hands, and I had no takers anywhere else... One old guy offered me $500...
Surely I could get a little more than that but I'm not the type who would stick someone with a "clunker"... But my friend knew the condition, and I didn't lie about it... So we both made a few bucks off that old car, but it wasn't like the Snake oil dudes on Ebay selling these cars from 10x their value...

How could anybody hate the pillow top Regency seats? These are some of the most comfortable seats ever bolted into a car and they define luxury for their day...to this day in fact. This car was gorgeous and if the listing is accurate, it did sell for a pretty penny so I guess it was worth relisting it a few times. I'm glad to see it went for a good price. There aren't many like this around anymore.
its been so long since i had my '77 and '83 olds I don't really recall how the seats were "comfy or not", but seems the '83 Eighty-Eighty Brougham seats weren't as comfy as the '77 seats in the 98...
But as for that '76 Olds, still seems that 13k is a hefty price for that car... It was missing the chrome on the rear windows, plus the OEM style had been changed to a different type... Still, though was a sweet looking car for 35 years old...

Here is a link to this guy's website with this car for sale. Does anyone know anything about this company? I have been trying to figure out if they are just a locator service or if they buy cars and resell them.
