OK, minus the air cleaner, and the supposed 400, is there any chance that this is a real one?

there should be old threads on the one I am thinking of.
This green/black Faux Four Two was built six months prior to the first documented real 64 442. It does not have a rear sway bar (or at least didn't back in 2014). The seller had some BS story about it being a "pilot car", and naturally didn't have a scrap of documentation to back that up. One of the many threads is available here. Again, not the car currently on ebay.

It's not a lie, it's a misinformed seller. Look at the alternator bracket. That's the 1964 style that only fits a small block. It won't physically bolt to a 400. That motor is a 330, the seller is just clueless.
Misinformed is one thing. I have misinformed in the past and you have corrected me on them. Using it to sell something makes it a lie. You are obviously more knowledgeable and attentive to details and I bow to your opinion. I didn't see an under hood pic when I checked the ad. I would have checked the engine casting number to confirm what engine it was.
Which only proves that it came from the factory with a four speed. Lots of 4spd Cutlii were built in the 1964 model year, not just 442s.
