Up for sale is our ’63 Olds Holiday Coupe. This two-door hardtop was treated to a frame-on exterior and interior restoration in 2017.
Exterior: Both the front and rear bumpers were professionally straightened and chromed and all the stainless was removed and restored. The body and paint were completed by Steve Trombley’s Auto Service in Temperance, MI. There was minimal body work but did include partial replacement of the right rear quarter over the wheel well using a quarter sourced from Desert Valley Auto Parts in Phoenix, AZ. The old paint was removed manually via chemical stripping to prevent body panel distortion. The result is a laser straight body and the new Regal Mist / Imperial White looks showroom fresh.
All new weather seals installed, new wiper blades, vacuum wiper motor rebuilt, newly rebuilt Rochester 2BBl carburetor installed in 2018, new shocks installed 2016. New exhaust from Waldron Exhaust, Centerville, MI, was installed in 2016.
Interior: New materials (cloth and vinyl seat materials and new carpet) were sourced from SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, OR and installed by Pete Bandy of Taylor, MI. Not all the seat material had to be replaced so Pete disassembled the panels and replaced only those in need of replacement. New seat foam was installed in both seats. This is where the factory call-off sheet was found and comes with the car. Neither the original headliner nor the visors with vanity mirrors were replaced.
The original push button AM radio was updated by R&B Vintage Radio in Mt. Juliet, TN, and now features AM, FM and Aux input. Driver and front-passenger seat belts were installed in 2017.
All gages are in working order as well as the heater and ventilation system. There is no factory or aftermarket air conditioning.
The dash is padded and there are a couple of very small cracks in the leading edge.
Brake booster: the power brakes work great on the car, but the brake booster is not original. The rebuilt original brake booster comes with the car.
Glass: all glass is in great shape, but the windshield does have a “wiper arm” scratch on the passenger side.
Transmission: (Roto-Hydramatic dubbed the "Slim Jim" Hydramatic) The trans works fine but has the characteristic hesitation when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Also, due to the high pressure at which this trans operates, the seals leak so a pan needs to be placed where it is parked to aid in cleanup.
Engine bay: as of this listing, except for the underside of the hood and cross brackets, we have not pulled the engine and trans to clean up (repaint) them to show quality.
Widow felts: as of this listing, the original window felts are in the car. I have sourced 1963 Impala window felts but have not installed them as they do not have the small diameter stainless bead on the outside felt with at the window seal. The inside window felts are the same design as the Impala.
