1991 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser
SOLD !!!!! I’ve decided it’s time to part with one of my two Custom Cruisers. My 1991, Bertha, has been my daily driver since 2018. I’ve decided to move to a more economical DD. She has 133,000 miles and runs decent, stops, and has a clean Washington State title. She is currently at home in Bremerton, WA. 305 TBI, 4L60, PS, PB, CC, pulse wipers, Pwr Mirrors, Keyless Entry, dual Pwr Seats, Leather, no sag in headliner, Cassette player and power antenna work, original owner opted out of rear defogger (weird), alloy wheels with Hankook WWs, trailer hitch and wiring but no HD towing package (used to pull small utility trailer).
Things I've replaced or added:
Fuel pump, alternator, starter, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, ignition control module, ignition coil, MAP sensor, knock sensor, O2 sensor, electronic spark control module, EGR valve, water pump, fan clutch, U/L rad and heater hoses, heater valve, thermostat, belt, rotors and drums, front bearings, Moog idler arm, Moog center link, full-size spare with alloy rim, muffler and resonator, catalytic converter, both rear window motors and driver’s window motor, and window switches.
Problems:
Small roof leak by rear drivers side grab handle for third row seat. Have been unable to locate the source.
Has Auto Climate Control but A/C has not worked since before I owned her. Previous owner said it had a freon leak but it wasn’t hot enough in Washington to bother with. Still R12. I have some retrofit parts for her.
Slight shake at idle.
Auto-level pump died and I replaced it with manual fill Monroe Shocks.
Paint is lacquer checked on hood and roof.
Clear has peeled from bumper cover and mirror tops.
Vent wing lower hinges are loose.
She’s been reliable. Except for the starter, ignition module, and fuel pump everything else was either replaced on the first sign of degradation or me upgrading to new parts to avoid failures. She gets lots of looks around town and was even featured in a June 2021 article in the OCA’s Journey With Olds magazine. I’ve kept a paper log of everything including fuel economy and all receipts since I’ve owned her and some from the two previous owners. Recent oil and coolant change. I have a box of spare parts, if you want a list let me know and I can send it to you. Good start for a restoration or daily driver.
