Car looks super clean.

Anyone have any thoughts/info as to the color combo? The green interior w/ brown door panels seems an unusual choice w/ the gold exterior. Was that a common combination back then?

The Color combination matches with the ID No. Codes.
As far as the door panels they are Green with woodgrain accent panels I call them.

Also can I say please it is listed on eBay Now;

Boy, no comments here, and no bids on ebay. You guys aren't usually so quiet! Am I missing something glaring w/ this car?

I think the color combo might hurt the sales potential. You say it matches the trim tag. When I look at the Colors and Upholstery Book, the green vinyl interior is available with colors 11,42,43,49 and 61. That translates to White, Palm Green, Lime Green, Antique Jade and Sandalwood. Saturn Gold is code 53. Id be curious to know the color code on the data plate.
A sad story about the owner, something unfortunately I hear too often in the old car hobby. Good luck and kudos to you for helping out.

I've seen a '71 442 Conv. that Thorntons restored in those same colors.

Yes so sad to have my friend gone, thanks.
The Data Tag is hard to take a picture of but here is one that looks OK to decipher I think.
Paint 53 .................TR Z972

Well, you are correct. 972 translates to green bucket seat interior. 53 is Saturn Gold as I previously indicated and the G is for a green convertible top. The Z ahead of the 972 has been a real mystery to us on the forum as to it's significance. I forget all the details but wouldn't it be interesting if it represented a non recommended color combination. I'm sure this possibility was previously discussed and eliminated. It is rather odd, so a customer must have specifically ordered it that way. I don't think a dealer would do so. How does it look in person?

Thanks for that information. It is somewhat of a relief to know it is correct.
To me it looks very nice. It helps of course that it is in such nice condition.

I have been driving this car for a few weeks and I am amazed how fast and powerful this engine is. Also what a great ride. So much like the so called "Road Cars". Cadillac has nothing on this Cutlass.

I wonder if this has a larger engine?

Well, that surprised me. Color a tad unconventional, but looked quite nice for a fair price. I was very tempted to check it out myself. Seems I've seen a lot worse go for as much or more. Any thoughts? Just a sign of the maket these days?
