1970 Cutlass Drag Car

My father bought this car in 2007 just before he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I believe his intention was to drag race the car, unfortunately that never happened. The car has been parked in my Dad’s driveway since he bought it. My Dad passed away last year and I need to sell the car. A friend of Dad’s came over in June to start the car. After checking fluid levels, etc. the car started and ran until we shut it off. It is pretty loud.

Two of Dad’s friends who both race old cars have looked the car over and following is what I now know about it:

It has aftermarket racing-type gauges, a professional roll bar, racing belts (5-point harness, 1 crotch strap), Weld racing wheels, MSD coil, MSD spark box with rev limiter (7000 RPM), hood is fiberglass, vacuum brake booster, power brakes, Painless wiring harness with master fuse, headers, Holley carburetor, Edelbrock heads and manifold, battery box in the trunk, automatic transmission.

It does need some work “a project car that never got finished”. There is some rust on the rear quarter panels, it needs a front bumper, the brakes need some attention (it has sat for several years). Ads are limited to 10 photos so if someone is interested I can send them more photos of the car.

I am asking $5000.00 (USD) for the car, as is. Car is located in Charleston, WV 25314. Please PM me with serious inquiries.

Sorry to hear of your dad's passing due to cancer. That's what happened to my father in law also. Giving you a bump here in case you haven't sold it yet.

Seems like a good car for the money. You didn't mention if you have the title. People here probably want to know that. Good luck with the sale!

I have ridden in this car. I was doing a stint for Toyota at the Buffalo, WV engine plant, and Ed knew me from realoldspower and knew I was there, so he came and got me one Sunday and we rode to a friends house and talked cars. Ed punched it on the way back, and, from a rolling 20 mph, it broke them both loose, got a little sideways, hooked, and took off like the hammers of hell. He seemed impressed with the car as he had just got it. I was impressed by the power, and the contortions the then-very-fat me had to do to get past the roll cage. This was in the very early spring of 07.

That's an interesting and fun story Koda. What's the odds that the car would show up here in the FS section? Cool.

Thanks for the bump and the story:-) I have sold the car to a very nice gentleman in Minnesota. I'm not sure what the procedure is on this site once a car is sold. If I need to remove the ad I will try to find out how to do that. I was just thinking today about the other cars that I need to list on this site. - Donna

That's all you have to do is say it's sold.

Congrats on the sale! Are the other cars you have yet to list Oldsmobiles?

Ed Skaff, was a great guy. Hopefully the new owner will take good care of your dads car.
