1965 442 Holliday

Cant keep two of these things forever so the one in my avatar is for sale. Listed at $17000 on the cars online site but the price is negotiable.

54K original mile, fully loaded car. The only one left like it I believe. Original paint with the usual 50 yr old door dings, chips, paint wear. Could stand a repaint but its looks pretty good from 20 feet so you could just leave it and enjoy the patina.

The power train needs nothing. I just had the tranny in for leaking seals and told them to just rebuild the whole thing while they were at it. In the end it also needed a stator which had just spun a bushing. So its as good as new now. The engine had been opened up and a double roller chain put in and who knows what else. I believe this was done at the Olds dealer when they purchased the car back from the first owner with the mileage in at mid 30's. They had plans to race it but never did and it sat in storage for years.

This story being told to me by a previous owner who had contacted me out of the blue just to pass this on. The rear diff is sooo nice like new tight. 3:23 posi.

Good luck with the sale Don.

I visited with Don yesterday & have known the car since Don bought it. If I can help with the sale feel free to ask.

I would love to own the car myself but this darn Oil business is a scary place to be right now so I am sitting on my wallet after painting the 87 442.

As for the body, No bondo or rust repairs done anywhere. What you see is what you get. It looks like it had been undercoated at the factory and its holding up real well. The only real issue is in the trunk which has some ugly pitting which I knew was there covered up in some metal treating black spray.

So lots of pics available to anyone interested.

Sold

Since Don has not gotten around to it I will note that this car has sold. It went to Olds AB. Hopefully we see it again @ the Northern Lights Olds show in July.

Good luck with the 65 Cutlass you are building. I wont pretend that I am happy about you abandoning the 455 to put in a Chevy engine but good luck just the same.

Thanks Dave and Stan, its a very tough market for original cars.. The young guys are building resto-mods and I have to tell you that Im on board... Cant afford the gas at $5 gallon 18mpg... and I want to travel with the car... Going with a 5.3 LS engine, Holley Terminator and continuing to use my 200R4 so Im hoping for mileage in the 30's

Its kinda nice to just throw stuff into these cars and see what works... Almost feel like a kid again experimenting like the old days
