Most GM performance cars back then got a Ford 3 speed toploader aka Dearborn 3speed. That transmission shown is a standard one found on cars equipped with 3 on the tree. Same GM trans in base model cars throughout the 50's and 60's.

The Phord toploader 3 speed wasn't introduced until 1965 and ended with the 69 model year. All 64 442's were 4 speeds. The 65 & 66 442's were available with a column shift but was discontinued for the 67 model year.

"In 1964 the “442” was a mid-year option. I have had a conversation with the original owner. This car was ordered with a 3-speed and A/C. It came with the 442 badging on the car.the build sheet would say B09 option, I have the build sheet number if any one has access the archive that will prove it. It’s a 1 of 436 made with 442 badging from the factory."
"This car came out mid-year to compete with the Tempest GTO. Olds made 442s this half year with all types of transmissions."
Seller also said that the (Christmas tree) setup in the trunk is a pump/filter.

Did the seller say why this Faux-Four-Two is missing the mandatory rear sway bar? And FYI, there were exactly 2,999 real 442s built in the 1964 model year, every single one of them with the rear bar and a four speed. You could learn a lot from factory Oldsmobile documentation... The three speed manual WAS available in the 1965 cars (even with column shift) but not in the 1964 cars.
Kind of reminds me of the green and black 64 Faux Four Two with the 10D build date and the "pilot car" story. Also the yellow convertible with the "special order" automatic. Of course neither one of those had a scrap of proof either...
You fellas are sure lighting up BaT! Good work! BaT has become one of my go-to's for cars for sale.

"We appreciate all the knowledgeable commenters speaking up here — it’s one of the things that makes BaT great. Our intention is always to present cars as accurately as possible with the available facts. In this particular case we’re communicating with the seller regarding additional documentation and will update the listing if needed.

"The listing has been updated to reflect that the vehicle is a Cutlass convertible model. Thanks to the community for the additional context!"
I must give the seller props for persistence: KylePollock (The Seller) "This car is a custom order car, what’s known as a B09 build 442. Air conditioner and factory 3 speed. I could not read the build sheet (mold)." And "This car was badged 442 from the factory."
