Agree. I'd say they're identical. I think you have (essentially) computer illiterates who just learned what a link was all about and how they could make money from affiliate marketing - having no clue whatsoever what they're doing.

 

Many of these affiliate marketing programs have become canned OTS (Off The Shelf) programs/applications any numbskull can d/l onto their website (webpage) yet remain clueless how to configure the website/webpage. Then, they make the decision to enable/configure the page as PPC (Pay Per Click) since they think sure that's going to provide tons of revenue (somehow). So, each time someone clicks on that webpage - 'Cha Ching' - money magically appears.

 

Boomers really get targeted by this due to cognitive decline and technology semi-illiteracy.

 

Agree. I figured it best not to ramble on about PPC revenue streams & how PPC programs are employed by the unscrupulous. I despise affiliate marketing. I'll stop by saying...be very careful about clicking on any links on most websites/webpages. I know, it's tough, you need your own blocking s/w to ensure you're not a victim; but, these scabs can collect your IP address (at a minimum) when you click on a PPC link, in addition to location parameters, shopping parameters, Browser history, etc. They'll compile a list of devices which have clicked on those PPC buttons then sell the information to other marketing scabs.
