Clean/wax 30yr old paint
Got any ideas? I have a 70 cutlass that has red paint with black race stripes and pin stripes. The paint is 30 yes old with some minor cracking on the doors. Is there something relatively easy to use to buff the paint and clean it up prior to waxing?
I have used Meguires #7 wax. The paint does shine but looks like a dull shine. Anyone have experience with aged paint?

The first thing would use on it would be a Mother's Clay Bar. It removes all the impurities in the paint. Then I would follow with one of their carnuba waxes.

If you have access to a circular auto Buffer, then get you some Pro Troubleshooter (Available online by the gallon for $30 ) take your time and Don't bear down on the edges of any panel. If it is possible to bring it back to a good shine , this will do it.Once you get the shine you want then use any good pure Carnuba wax ,to retain the shine. Don't use a regular electric circular sander ,they turn much faster than a polishing buffer. Good luck, Larry
P.S my car is 59 years old and the green paint that you see is the original Lacquer ,and the Troubleshooter brought the shine back about 9 years ago and it's only been waxed with Carnuba wax since!
