Don't use compression fittings with "olives" as they aren't for high pressure and reliability. The best would be to measure the line you kinked, and buy a pre-made replacement from NAPA or Carquest. They are cheap and come with flare fittings and nuts already done for you. It is a hassle to cut the liine and make your own flare fittings even if you already have the double lap flaring tool.

I have done it and it has to be a double flare. A new line is way better since they tend to get old and rust. Use a tubing bender and don't try to make any sharp bends.
