Dual reservoir master cylinder 1962 98
Dual reservoir master cylinder 1962 98
Next on the list is the brake system.
Hard lines look a bit rusty and I'd like to go dual master cylinder while it's apart.
4 wheel drums
What master cylinder will work and do I need to change proportioning valve?
Anything else need to be done?
Will existing booster work?
Thanks

Good choice on upgrading to a dual MC. I'll provide the following (obtained from a search on our site) to assist in wetting your appetite. I have never performed this conversion I have only read numerous threads throughout the years pertaining to this upgrade. Until others w/ appropriate experience/knowledge chime-in, have a look at these threads and decipher threads relative to a 98 (large body vehicle) - Good Luck.

That's because the URL link I sent to use has now been updated and is out-of-date. Use this link below. Additionally, at any time you can perform a search for "Dual reservoir master cylinder" (include quote marks).

I've updated a few cars to dual but not a 62 using the original booster. My wagon is a 62 and what I've done is used a 63 booster with a dul master ( ACD # 18M1058, found on Amazon) and it works great. Easiest method for me was bench bleed the master then bolt to booster. I still used the splitter block on frame but plug the port for rear line and ran a new line to rear flex line. You do not require a proportioning valve doing this, only if you go disc fronts. The master I'm using has the lines on the engine side so you don't have to work with any modifications to the inner fenders. The oil dip stick is tight but useable. E-mail me stevewestlake@jaswest.com and I'll send you a couple of pictures .

I have no issue replacing the booster also.
Probably should anyway.
I will send email for pics. Much appreciated!
BTW I got the trans adjustment tool from you a few months back but haven't used it yet.
Since I've got the motor running properly the trans acts much better.
I am gonna go through the process eventually.
Thanks again!
Just to add info I found this company who will rebuild the booster for the same price fusicks sells the kit for. Of course shipping it out will cost a bit but for a cleaned, rebuilt and tested unit I don't have to fool with I think it's a deal.
