simple question.. where do i connect the vacuum line to the canister? from the back of the carburetor( i have a edelbrock 600cfm) or from the engine where the brake booster is connected?

does it make sense pls help?

 

should go to where you have manifold vacuume at idle. The other one is ported vacuume. I can't remember which is which. Just put a gauge on it to check.

Edit: use the big port where the brakes go. I thought you were talking about the factory bulb for the A/C that sits on the firewall.

 

I am not sure which canister you are referring to, so if you can describe it, we can give the right answers.
I would guess the one on the firewall for the A/C but I want to be sure.

Booster will now be hooked to the new canister. The canister works as a piggy back storing the vacuume that may not be there in the engine with a big cam. I personally prefer a well set up manual brake system but thats just me.

Okay, the original brake booster gets its vacuum off a rear port on the intake manifold.
I circled it in purple on the attached picture. This a a 1972 350.
That metal line runs over to the booster where a rubber hose connects the two.

my original vacuum canister was not connected ,.. so when i bought this one my neighboor was telling me that it was

from the back of the carburetor to the canister
and from the canister to the brake booster.. and he got me confused

What would this have been?
Are you talking about the booster (9" can behind the master cylinder)??

There was no factory "vacuum canister" on the 72 for the brakes.
The tube was run from the manifold (circled) to a rubber hose to the brake booster.
I am assuming your engine is a 72 stock Olds?
