Question on vaccum trunk opening

I have a vaccum trunk opening, what is the proper canster for it. Is it a metal can or a plastic can. I have the the metal can (it not a GTO can).

The one on the parts car I bought has a metal can. I really don't know what one is right.

I have seen both styles (plastic and metal) on 65-66 fullsize cars.

Most likely, the plastic is used on later models.

warrior71 - on my all original '66 98 without A/C, there are two plastic canisters, one for the heater system and the other for the trunk release. On my Holiday with auto A/C, there is a metal can, much larger, to supply the A/C system. I don't know what car you are working on but i hope this will help.

Vacuum trunk release

I may have missed it in another post, but what year and model of car do you have? Olds used both metal and plastic vacuum cans. John
