Rear end brake drums help..

I have a 1967 Delmont 88 convertible and when I bought it I guess he kept or scrapped the drums measureing it seems it had 11"x2" brake shoes now my question I can not find a 11" drum for my 67 delmont but the auto parts has a 11"x2" drum but for a 1967 delta 88 did olds use the same rearend/drums where the drums for the delta 88 will work on my 67 delmont 88. ???? Thank you

Yes, the 67 Delmont and Delta are essentially the same car, just different trim levels. Brake parts are the same.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news --- but NO Auto Parts store will be able to supply ANY brake drum --- Front or Rear --- for your vehicle.
The Fronts are 11" x 2 3/4", the Rears are 11" x 2".... And both have been discontinued long ago.......
The conventional Chineseum world has not made either of them....

I do have ++ N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Brake Shoes for both Front & Rear applications.....

I would be very interested to know what you ultimately find out (although I already know the answer you will receive.......). Craig 516 - 485 - 1935..... New York....

thank you very much and yes I dont like them but Auto zone was the most reasonible. At 32.99 each. I have 9.5 in the front and 11 x 2 in the rear. The guy at auto zone said after matching part numbers and a little research that the delmont 11s and the delta 11s are the same drum. Thank you very much

9.5" drums were intermediate (A-body) size. No way is that going to work on a full-size car.

The 9.5" drums were undersized on the intermediate bodies. They'd be HATEFULLY inadequate up front, on a full-size. Front drums should be bigger or wider than the rears. Seems you should have 11 x 2 1/2 up front, not 9.5" diameter.

No, you don't. Impala's used the smaller 9.5" brakes. EVERY 1967 Olds full size used 11" drums at all four corners. DO NOT assume the catalog at any auto parts store is correct. Most are not.

Sure? I don't think ANY B- or C-body used 9.5" brakes.

EDIT: OK, I stand corrected. I would have sworn that the Impalas used the same small brakes as the J88, but the Chevy parts book says 11". Sorry about that.

For the responder who said the Fronts are 11" x 2 1/2" --- NO.
Full Size Oldsmobile Used 11" x 2 1/2" Fronts through 1964,
1965 - 1970 Full Size Oldsmobile Fronts ARE 11" x 2 3/4" ONLY.

1953 - 1970 OLDSMOBILE Rears are ONLY 11" x 2" -- and fit NO other vehicle other than
Oldsmobile...

For the responder who said he "thinks" that they didn't use 9 1/2" --- you do not have to
Think they Don't --- THEY DON'T and NEVER DID....

And, ad I had indicated --- NO parts store will be able to provide the correct ones -- FRONT or
REAR ---- and when those interested get done fiddle--bleepin' around with those morons,
You are welcome to call me for perfection.... Craig 516 - 485 - 1935.......

Adding to the fun of it all, the rear shoes, at least on the 1965 and 1966 Ninety-Eight vehicles, possibly other years for said vehicle are 11 X 2.5!

That has nothing to do with this vehicle --- but 1965 - 1969 Oldsmobile 98 ONLY Rears are
11" x 2 1/2" -- and I have those ++ N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Rear Brake Shoes & Rear Brake Drums....
You can't even get those brake shoes from any of the Chineseum outfits..... And certainly not the brake drums....

I understand sir, quite aware of the involved vehicle, it was simply another statement about the uniqueness of the large Oldsmobiles.
