Proportioning valve thoughts

Good Morning, I am going to be changing out my proportioning valve later today. Wondering if anyone has suggestions on the best way to do this so I don’t risk breaking the rear brake line. I am kinda limited physically so going from underneath would be a major issue…. I am replacing the master cylinder lines while doing this, it that makes a difference….

Use plenty of PB Blaster or Kroil. Soak the brake line fittings once a day for at least a week. After dousing them with penetrant slightly tighten/loosen them. They should come loose after a week or so.

Unfortunately there is no good way to do this. The failure mode is that the flare nut rusts to the tube, which is why the tube can twist and break when you try to unscrew the nut. If you sense that starting to happen, remove all the other lines first, unplug the connector, unbolt the combo valve from the frame, and hold the nut to the rear line fixed while you unscrew the combo valve from it. Once the nut is free from the valve, you can usually break it loose from the tube. When reassembling, use a small dab of anti-seize between the nut and the tube in addition to on the threads of the nut. Take care not to get any inside the tube itself.

I can reach the proportioning valve on my 71 98 from the top, but I'm 7ft. tall. You can always give it a shot, good luck.👍

I am just looking and it seems as though that line comes down and connects to another line about an inch away from the frame.... Maybe I should separate there and then lift the valve out and then disconnect with it out....
