Good looking job. Did you use the Scarebird #OLD kit? I posted elsewhere about possibly using that on a 63 Starfire:

Did everything bolt up and fit right? Did you have any trouble finding the parts recommended on their list?


Can you list a source and part number for the master cylinder and proportioning valve? Did you use your booster or did you replace with a new style?

Yes it was the OLD Number 61-64 The only problem I ran into was I powder coated my spindles and had to remove some powder coating wher it bolts at the top. I purchased all the parts at Rock Auto real easy.
Booster is a 67 Olds for disc/ drum

These are directional and 11.5" No shields are needed for limited use.

 

I am still interested in learning WHAT SIZE WHEELS after the conversion?

Not necessary. All the 94 to 96 Chevy Caprice 9C1 police cars had heavy duty discs with the water shields left off at the factory to improve cooling. I drove one for four years with no problem at all.

 

I used 17x7 in front and 18x8 in rear.

I'm thinking of adding this to my 62 super wagon, will crager 31 spoke 15 inch rims fit over?
The set up looks good on your car, how is the stopping power in relation to the drums?

I can't answer that yet it is still winter here and haven't taken out yet.

I have about a foot of snow still on the ground and a few drifts of snow along the fence line.

 

Just got another foot of snow. Getting tired of this winter!

 

We are under a weather advisory now for freezing rain and flooding as the snow is melting fast.

I need to get my 98 out and clean the cob webs of winter out of her and go get a burger.
lets hope this is the beginning of spring, been a long cold winter up here.

 

Finally got the car out of the garage to test the brakes and the brakes stop quite a bit better than before. Very happy I spent the money to do this.

 

I started researching for Disc brake conversion for my 63 Starfire and came across your thread. Very helpful, thanks for posting it. I have two question,if you could tell me what you did about the distribution block and did you need a metering block or did the new proportioning valve eliminate those? The description indicates it does but I just wanted to double check. Also, did you have to change the original booster or could you have used the original one?

 

What backspacing did you use on the 18x8s? I tried to use som 16x8s but they were extending past my rear fenders
