My one dumb question for the day...

Ok - If I am going to go with 4 wheel discs, do I need to keep the rear drum brake backing plates? Secondly, in order to remove them do I have to pull out the axle shafts?

What ever anchor plates you need for disc brakes will require removal of the backing plates which requires removal of the axles. There should be some kind of splash guard for the discs.
