Parking Brake Cables

Guys:
Trying to get the rolling chassis done before I drop the body back down on my 66 Cutlass. The car has a 70-72 12 Posi rear end and a Turbo 400 trans, my question is what is the difference in the 64-67 and 68-72 rear cables? I can find good catalog photos of each different part number and they look identical except the 68-72 cables have a longer length of protective padding on the cable, the second question is about the front cable at the pedal assm, the catalogs call for a 64-66 cable, the 67 Turbo 400 calls for a different cable, is it a length issue? When we did the change over back in the 80's I do remember needing to change the intermediate cable to a different length, any help would be great.
Thanks, Ron

Its a length issue with the front and intermediate cables. The transmission cross member is mounted 6" rearward with a ST400 vs the ST300 in the 67. I don't believe there was a 400 prior to 67, hence the different pn's for 64-66.

If your question is about the rear cables that go into the backing plates, I do not think there is a length difference. As you are aware, the front and intermediate cables need to match BOTH the crossmember location and the wheelbase. 64-67 cars have a different wheelbase than the 68-72 cars. And as noted, the TH400 was not available prior to the 1967 model year, but you need to use the 67 front and intermediate cables for a 64-66 car with a TH400.
