I'm rebuilding the single piston front disc brakes on our 1970 442 and have a question regarding proper "torque spec's" for one of the Bolts that holds the Backing Plate and Caliper Bracket to the Spindle Steering Knuckle.
It's the large "Upper" Bolt, where the backing plate "tabs" fold over it after tightening (I've found that the two-2 lower Nuts should be torqued to 90ft./lbs., but am finding conflicting info. for the "upper" bolt.). I've found lots of torque values on the net and in the Olds Manuals, but I'm not sure which spec is correct. If I "overtorque" this bolt and damage the threads in the steering knuckle I'd be in a world of hurt...........Does anyone know the "correct" torque value for this upper bolt? Thanks for the help. You're probably done this but it's 120 ft/lbs
