Question Brake Distribution Block / Prop Valve GROUNDING

Question:

Does the brake distribution block (Proportioning valve) mounted on the left front frame rail, need to be grounded to chasis for the brake failure switch to work?

(re: 71 442)

THANKS!

If it's bolted down, it IS grounded. And to answer your question, yes.

Hi Tom, I just did this on my '68 ( not sure what you are working on) on mine, it is JUST a distribution block and I had to add a proportioning valve between the dist block and the rear brakes.

You can either add a standalone prop valve in line with your current distribution block (as the factory did for 1967-1970), or you can replace the distribution block with a combination valve (distribution block and prop valve combined in one housing). Your choice, either works.
