Brake booster issues.
Brake booster issues.
I bought a cheap replacement booster off Rockauto, and it works fine...
For a while after install, my brake pedal would often not completely return to it's top position right away, resulting in the brake lights staying on.
I figure out that issue. Loosened the bolts, jiggled it arounf a bit to get the rod coming thru the firewall a little lower, and it seems to have done the trick.
Now, I get a squeek when applying the brake.
My ears are old, but it sounds like it's coming from up in the rod into the booster?
I got a silicone lube with a straw, and put the straw up into the foam, but it didn't seem to help.
Anyone have a fix for this?
Are cheap boosters just known for this?
Do I need to remove the booster, and resituate the rod, and white plastic seal?

Hi David - did it squeeck before you readjusted the rod ? My immediate thought is that perhaps when you put the new booster on, the depth of the fork was not the quite the same as the old one. Otherwise, it should have been able to get the brake switch to trigger. Were you able to line up the two boosters next to each other to get the u shaped bracket correct ? I believe there is a rubber seal inside where that foan is, so I would be concerned with pumping silicone up there.
