71 Cutlass S Disc brake fit?

My son (SevenNoOni member here also) and I each have a Cutlass, sons is a 71 Cutlass S that we have been restoring for a LONG time, mine is an 87 442 that needs work to. 71 has drum brakes, and I want to put disc brakes on it, my son's friend has an S10 that he can get the disc brakes off, I believe the S10 parts fit the 87 442, but not sure if they will fit the 71 Cutlass. Does anyone know the fit of these parts on either Cutlass (71 & 87)

Mark

S10 and G-body cars will interchange. The 1964-72 A-body spindles are different and even use ball joints with different tapers. Those will not interchange.

Joe: thank you for the reply, glad he didn't already buy the brakes for his 71 then. If I got the S10 brakes for my 87 442, what am I gaining? I've seen posts that people change to the S10 brakes, just don't know why, I already have disc brakes.

The single piston caliper S10 brakes are exactly the same as those on a G-body. There's no benefit to change. Some later S10s have dual piston PBR calipers that will provide a braking improvement, but I believe these require different wheels with positive offset.
