70 Cutlass brake drum

I was asked if the holes in the rear brake drums were standard on the cutlass, and I did not know - were they?

Thanx, Ted

I'm confused. What holes? The only standard holes I can think of are for the wheel studs and axle.

Allan, there are 3half circles, flared at one end on the back drums.I will post some pics in the AM. None of us have seen them before on a drum brake-maybe it is a Alberta thing

Drum Pictures

Here's the drum. I have just never seen holes in the drum like this before, are they for cooling?

For fun, pictured is Sammy the dog with Sammy the car.

Thanks, Ted

Ted, I've never seen that before - on anything. Is that an original drum? I'm wondering if it isn't something that was done by a PO?

Gotta be a backyard brainstorm to make it run cooler

Say... is your dog sticking his tongue out at us?

Yup, considering where it came from....You should double check the drum with calipers just to make sure they're in tolerance. No telling what else was machined on that sucker!

BTW the car looks amazing in the sun like that. Give Sammy a pat on the head and a treat from from? thx Ted!
