This may be a stupid question,but I cant get the rear drums off this'62 F85 is there some trick? Or are they just rusted on the rear axle the brake shoes are backed off so they are not holding me up WTF?

 

Try taking a rubber mallet and striking rather firmly TOWARD the car around the perimeter of the drum. I saw a video online once about this, and it worked when I wasn't able to get one of the rear drums off of my '67 Delta 88. It seems wrong because you're pounding the drum onto the car, rather than from behind to push it off. But you just want to break it free of the rust, and this method worked for me. In my case, I didn't need to hit it all around the drum. Just a couple of firm hits broke it free.

 

Do they move at all? If not, they are rusted to the axle flange. My 62 was that way on one side. I had to soak the hub with penetrating oil and tap the drum repeatedly to get it loose. I also had to clean up the pilot on the flange outboard of the drum so it would slide off. Use a scotchbrite disk if possible. Of course, be sure your brake adjusters are backed off.
