Are there hidden VIN Numbers

Due to some serious rust issues and previous repairs that were done poorly, I am looking to replace the firewall and floor section of my car. I have heard that Chevy use to stamp the VIN under the blower motor and heater box. Not the Ink or Grease Stamp but and actual stamp like the block, frame and transmission.

Has anyone ever come across these on a 1970 442 or cutlass. I would hate to accidentally cut these out.

Thanks
JD

Just look for them on your car's metal.
Replace/ restamp or not as you see fit.
I have not seen that used on Olds, but don't usually look for it either.

Someone on line said that you could find the last six of your vin somewhere on the package tray. Top or bottom , I don't know. I have never seen this, it's just what I heard.

no, not on Olds. Only thing stamped there are inspectors stamps, and they are ink. Usually yellow and blue.

Thanks for all the responses.. I have been looking over the body and can't find any other numbers.. I just want to make sure if they are there I cut around them, or section them into the new panels

The only thing you'll find stamped on the body panels are W numbers. They usually have a 2 digit week number stamped on them (ie: my car has W12 throughout which is consistent with it's birth at Fisher Body Works in Lansing - First week of April 1972. Panels were apparently 'date stamped' ) There's a thread on this topic floating around on this site.

Is everything else on the car original?
