Upper Windshield Trim Removal

Upper Windshield Trim Removal
OK, I'm trying to remove my upper windshield trim piece (see pic below, black arrows are pointing to it).

The lower and sides came of perfectly, although there were no clips for the sides and my body book says there should have been. I've been all along the area between the windshield and the trim piece with this tool:

and I am not running into the clips that my body book says holds it in. Are there really supposed to be clips? Does anyone have a pic showing what they look like and/or how they work? The body book is no help with that. Can anyone here help me with this? I'm starting to suspect a previous owner glued the trim piece in.

If the car in your pic is the car you are working on, there should be clips, almost right where your arrows are! There should have been clips on the side, too. It's possible someone siliconed or glued it on.

And I should be able to feel those clips when I insert the tool and run it along the windshield, right? In other words, I insert the tool between the trim piece and the windshield and I have one of the tips all the way to the top, as I move the tool all the way across the top of the windshield I should keep running into clips. But I don't. So it does look like the piece has been adhered to the windshield then. Crap. I'll try the heat gun and see if I can loosen up the adhesive. Thanks!

There will be clips but they are hard to see and near impossible to feel. When I get a tough one what works for me is to pry the moulding up just a little and use a paint stick to hold it up just enough. Use a small flashlight and look under the moulding. You will see a bump only about 1/16" into the moulding. Get your tool behind that bump and pry it toward the bottom of the windshield / cowl while applying slight upward pressure on the moulding away from the car. Once you get one or two clips loose the rest come easy.

So are the clips going to pop out, or is the trim piece going to pop off of the clip when I pull the clip down?
It looks to me like the latter as in the pictures it appears that the clip itself is held in place by the windshield.
