Stripper

My default method is chemical stripping, followed by 120 DA grit down to the metal. Least amount of dust, but gooy messy. EPA outlawed methyl chloride strippers, so they generally do not work nearly as well as before. Jasco is the best I have found. Scuff up with 80 grit, slather it on, cover with thin poly sheeting. Wait an hour, I am using razor blades in a tool holder.
Have not tried the abrasive stripping machines. I would be concerned about heat generation.
Sandblasting works good, if you have equipment and an area to do it in. If you are doing underside of hood, that would be a good option, with all the reinforcements, nooks, crannies.
