R.E.M. Auto 70/72 cutlass 442 emblem mounting stencils

Not sure where to post this so it may need to be moved. I bought a new set of 70/72 Cutlass W30 emblem mounting stencils off of a member a few years ago. I'm trying to get the car ready to paint and got out these stencils to drill the 442 numbers on a fender and the deck lid. I got the 442 stencil to work OK so far for the fender numbers but the stencil for the decklid was way off. There was a stencil for the coup and one for the convertible. Mine is a coup so I used that one. I compared it to the original deck lid (which I still have) and it was off by maybe a half inch or so. I made marks on the stencil noting the position on the original decklid. I then used that to drill the holes in the NOS decklid.
Has anyone here used these stencils and had any issues. My car is very low miles and I'd be about 99% certain it's the original deck lid. My brother bought it in the 1980's from the original owner. It just seems odd that they would sell stencils that weren't correct. But then, I don't see them listed on their site. Thank goodness I had the original decklid and another fender to check them with before I drilled.
