Lower Front fender nuts

70-72' Cutlass, 442, etc...
Can someone post a pic of OEM lower front fender nuts\bolts, the two on the bottom just in front of door please? Need to know what is the correct U nuts that go here. Mine were missing, P.O. just rigged something temp to ship car to me.

Ive seen that there are the typical Long U nuts, the short ones, and then a third kind like these-

You can buy them at hardware stores. unless you are looking for the correct ones that's a different story.

Hey Copper,
Yes looking for correct OEM ones.
Ive experimented with the stamped chinesium steel u nuts plenty.
Not impressed to date, especially on cars.

I think the hex nut ones work best. Just being picky here on what are correct ones.
I raped a 70' 442 at a junkyard recently. Went back to harvest these today, and they
cleared out entire classic car area. Bummer. Had 4 good ones on it, But I was so burned out in 95 degree temps wrenching in hot sun, just couldnt do anymore. Went back today and the whole area was cleared.

If you have a good hardware store you can find us. made u nuts. You might even be able to find The correct ones but new from Nut and bolt suppliers that supply to body shops. Just a thought. I have the hardware store bought ones they where us. made and turned out to be the same brand our shop was supplied just different vendor. Idk if the car on your sig line is yours but that car was at the shop used to work at for a spray on clear protector I belive.

Down here in So. Fla. Ace hardware is best place for this kind of stuff.
Selection blows away every auto parts store, big box hardware stores, etc.
But Ace is hour round trip. Always stop in there when Im around. Then there is a place called Broward Bolts which is like huge warehouse wholesaler for everything under the sun, they have given me stuff free before! But there even further.
Just need to find right ones and let the web do the walking for me.

Ebay has some nice boxed styled hex nut ones like the bottom link above, pretty cheap too in quanties of 10.

That's where I got mine ace. lol My friend worked there so I always got a nice discount. The joke we had was if it wasn't fro ace hardware my car would not be together. Lots of trips made to the place buying odds and ends. Good luck on your search.

Originals are U and not the more common J. Originals will also have a square nut crimped on instead of the more common hex nut. I do not have a source for new original style, but if you find an A body being parted-out they will have them.

I hope this helps

Got mine from Ace too. Then used stainless steel bolts. Not correct but.... sometime down the line I will thank myself or the next owner will.

Larry, This says "j clip", but the pic is not j clip but U, and has square nut. States for 68-72 Chevelles-
