Inner fender removal

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the left side inner fender without removing the fender? Car is a 66 Cutlass.

I believe so. I recently removed the passenger side from a 1967. I put it on jack stand, removed the tire, removed all the bolts from the inner fenderwell and then rotated the top inward toward the engine. That got the wheelwell free from the fenderwell lip. Then I jiggled it around until I was able to work the rear downward and pull the front away from the core support. I rolled it out over the brake drum. The greatest challange was getting it off the fenderwell lip, but it was still much less time consuming than removing the fender from the car. John

2blu remembers correctly. Removing the outer fender would be a huge pita. Just remember the pesky bolt at the bottom rear in addition to those around the fender lip, two inside at the top, and four across the front. Often the front ones are rusted badly on the side with the battery. Not only do you need rust penetrant, the heads are often corroded smaller so you should try smaller 6 point sockets if needed. Stock was 1/2" and 12 mm may fit.

Thanks -- got it done today. Was able to mostly remove the inner fender. Got it far enough so I could get my hand behind the fender to re-attach the fender trim piece.

Thanks for the info.
