Used IS your best bet!

Used pan sections from out west would be the way to go! Carefully remove old, and install new...much quicker and cleaner looking! Or check with John(2blu442) and see if he has one of those cars laying around!

I would suggest 18 ga. if you are just gonna patch it in plain steel.

I'd just use the taurus floor.

Ribs are stamped into the GM floors to maintain rigidity, because they wanted to save a few bucks and find out a good way to stick us with thin gauge crap steel.
In my opinion, there is nothing good to be said about originality on many GM parts. the floors being one of them.

If you want to run a flat patch, go with thicker gauge so it doesn't pop and flex on you.
Or just use the taurus floor and beat the ridges flat around the weld edges.
