Door Latch Pin Question
Door Latch Pin Question
SO, if I remove the door latch pin on my 75 Olds Cutlass, will the nut in the frame drop out and i have to go fishing for it or is there a retainer back there for re-insertion of the pin? I have to remove it to put a nylon bushing on it! I don't want this to end up like some of my other "quickie" projects.....you know, only a 5 minute job that takes 2 hours!
Just to expand on the description a little, the "nuts" in the cavities are called floating nutplates. There's a plate with the threaded hole that acts as the nut that is captured in a sheet metal cage that holds it in place but allows it to float a little for adjustment and to accommodate tolerance stackup. This same feature is used on the plates that the door hinge bolts thread into.
