70 Cutlass “S” Body Dimensions

(Didn’t get any replies under another section I posted in so this is a repost) Hi all! I’ve began the restoration of my 1970 Cutlass S. She is VERY rotten. Really should have bought a shell but at this point, I’m pretty well invested in the current one. When I bought the car, it was relatively in tact. I had gotten it driving and thought I’d do a rolling restoration. Well, after driving it for a few months, the right A-pillar to sub structure let go. Well, and the roof almost peeled back. (Made for an interesting drive.) I parked the car and started ordering sheet metal starting with the roof and floor pans. A year and a half later, they finally show up. In the interim, hurricane Ian rolled through and put my car under six feet of saltwater. Tried rinsing everything off. Didn’t think it was a big deal because most every piece of sheet metal seemed to be available and the car was already riddled with rust. Fast forward to last week, I start pulling things apart. Cutting the roof off, found rotten sub structure (didn’t expect that) and learned the corner pieces that tie the front windshield bow to the structure running fore and aft are quite structural. They protrude down into the A-pillar about four inches. My issue now is that there isn’t really anything tying the car together very well. The dash, firewall, A-pillars, sub structure that are all supposed to be pretty solid are now a bit….. flexible. As I’m repairing this, I want to make sure everything is where it needs to be. The passenger door that is still attached amazingly falls right into place with the body lines lined up and no difficulty opening or closing however, if I pull down on the door, I can flex the whole structure. She’s pretty bad. The biggest thing I have been looking for is some dimensions for the body. I’ve looked high and low. Bought the chassis manual, assembly manual and fisher body manual. No luck. How did these guys (assembly plant) know where to stick sheet metal to spot weld it or was it jigged and spot welded? If it were ever in a major accident, how do they repair structure accurately? Is there any possible source of information for these body dimensions?

Didn’t expect the sub structure to be so damaged. Possibly a result of hurricane Ian.

Don’t mind the forward lightening hole, new corner piece will be welded in there

Replacement A pillar corner

Wireless A pillar attachment

What trunk pan

Lots of rot along the cowl and dash. I have my replacements ready to be welded in
