55 88 Door and fender alignmentt
OK, spent better part of a day already, and I get them close, then try to make a samll final adjustmetn and seem to go back to square 1.
Can someone with good sedan (post) door post a picture of the area where the top rear of the fenders meet up with the cowl, windshield molding and upper window frame portion of the door?
I typically enjoy this type of challenge, but I'm losing patience and figured I'd see if there was a trick to this.....
Doors are orginal to the car and they fit pretty nice when I took it apart.
Fenders are rust free replacements I found.
I have everything in epoxy and two coats of high build.
I wanted to do a final mock up to see if there is any filling needed across gaps and I planned to drill the hinges for later when I get to final assembly.

Thanks Ozzie! This helps a lot.
So along the window stainless, the door frame is almost flush or is it recessed slightly?
Doing some research, it looks like I will have to play with the body mount shims a little and that might help as well. I just put the body back onto the chassis.
Appreciate the help!

I am having a bit of trouble understanding exactly what the question is. Can you say it another way? Is the "window stainless" referring to the vent shades? The door is recessed when compared to the drip rail.
Yes that helps a lot. It's like the guy said, "A picture is worth a thousand words".
On the one I have, the door is slightly recessed and varies a bit from top to bottom of the windshield's stainless. At the top and at the bottom of the stainless, the recess is approximately 1/8"; at mid height of the stainless, the recess is about 1/16".
